Private Browser Notes Explained — Local vs Cloud

Most note apps push your text to a cloud account. Private browser notes apps choose a different model — keep the text on your device and let you decide when (or if) it leaves.

Local storage online notes

The browser stores text in its local storage area. Closing the tab does not erase notes. Clearing site data does — that’s the trade-off for not having a cloud account.

When to choose private browser notes

  • Sensitive ideas, customer notes or credentials
  • One-machine workflows where sync is unnecessary
  • Quick scratch use without signup

Backups

Use the export feature to save a JSON copy regularly so you can recover even after a clean install.
